Aisling Bea

Aisling B a, born 16 March 1984, in Kildare Ireland. She appeared on QI together with Stephen Fry. Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984), better known as Aisling Bea, is a popular Irish actress writer and comedian. Bea first began her career as a stand-up comedian in 2011 after playing small roles she played on Irish and British television dramas from 2009. She began appearing frequently on sketch comedy shows and sitcoms later in the year. After she received an award from Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2011, Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2011 and then was a frequent guest on a variety of panel shows, where she's currently a regular. In 2016 and 2017, she was a part of 8 Out of 10 Cats' team, and also a part-time participant in the 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown spinoff. Born to Brian O'Sullivan, she was blessed with one sister named Sinead. In 2012, she was the first woman ever to be awarded the So You Think You Are Funny award. The surname she uses is Bea to pay tribute to her late father. Aisling Cliodhnadh, born April 16, 1984, in Kildare Town in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian was an equine vet who took his own life when she was just three. Bea didn't learn how her father passed away until she turned thirteen. Her stage name Bea was in tribute to her father. She wrote an opinion piece in The Guardian, published in 2017 about her experiences dealing with suicide. Bea (and her sister Sinead) were raised within the home of Helen Moloney who was a instructor and trainer of jockeys who was also a professional jockey. The family was awed by horses, race meetings and racing. In her youth Bea was a tour guide at the Irish National Stud however she realized at an early stage that she was not interested in the racing industry as a career and instead loved performing.
